The Challenges with Wireless - Ubuntu

Recent experiences suggest there are better options then Network Manager, which by my own experience seems to cause more trouble then good. Course I am still early on in that process, but am so far happy with Ubuntu and just recently setup Ubuntu 9.04 on a separate hard drive to check it out when it is fully installed.

Back to the point of this post, I can see by the activity of the discussion forums on Wireless with Ubuntu, that it is more then just me who is dealing with this challenge. On that point, I feel I should share my experiences with some alternatives to the standard install of Network Manager in Ubuntu. One possible solution is wicd, which seems to be better setup and a bit more intuitive. Before I will say much more on that I will have to explore it further, as far as Network Manager goes I can go on for a very long time on all it's tweaks and issues, but instead, I will make it a point, to put that aside until I try out wicd to see how that goes. Stay Tuned.
